I don't know who is wrong but look at this site:

http://www.performance2and4.co.uk/32_2_n.htm

I also have french and german prof. books/magazines where they only mention the '88 diamond blue as the anniversary.(250000st/25th ann.)
I have never seen or read about the car you are refering to.(Not in europe)

Greetz,
Christophe

25 years of 911 was in the year 1988!
So your car is build in the wrong year! That's interesting...

The '88 was the 250.000ste P. and the 25th anniversary.
The '89 anniversary was just a trick to sell a few more 3.2(but it was the wrong year) because the 964 was coming strong.

Hope this helps,
Christophe

I'm not sure, but insn't there a difference between a 3.2 in europe and a 3.2 in america?
Mayby that is the reason?

Thanks,
Christophe

p.s. yesterday evening I bought the '88 3.2 anniversary.
Yes, there are differences between ROW (euro) and US cars. The performence differences was greater on the 3.2 then the 964, hence there are much more difference between a US 3.2 and a US 964 than on a ROW 3.2 and a ROW 964.

cheers

That's why I thought I'd mention it...there is indeed some incorrect information floating around (both on that web site, and in some books), but what I've stated is indeed correct according to the official '88 Porsche brochure that I have. I'll try to find a link where this was discussed a while back (either here or on the Pelican BBS), and post it later. You are correct...'88 is the year for our cars (diamond blue w/ the signature seats), commemorating the 250,000 911 produced. Although 'technically' it was the 25th year of production, that wasn't part of the marketing. The '89 Silver Anniversary Editions (mostly silver/sometimes black), were marketed as the 25th anniversary year (Porsche didn't always stick to the correct year on some of their other 'anniversaries' either). Also, the term "Jubilee Edition" will sometimes be referred to for the '88s (particularly in Europe), due to it being stamped on the 'commemorative plate' on the dash (which is deleted on my car). Hope this helps...ya can't always believe what you read...(including my posts )! Enjoy your car, I love mine...Keith

ps: I too have an '88 Commemorative Edition coupe (no tail, spoiler, or Carrera emblem)...they are ALL great cars!!!

edited: pps: check out the avatar for randlej on the recent "Where is your stereo amp" thread, and you can see a pic his 25th Anniversary Edition cab.
