87 Carrera Coupe Value
Hello,
I'm the proud owner of a 944 Turbo track car and I'm looking to buy a 911 as a weekend and occassionally commuter car. I found an 87 Carrera Coupe with 80K miles. It drives, shifts and stops well. No visible damage anywhere other than the normal wear of a 17 year old car. Some records over the past few years but not much. The engine was resealed and the clutch was replaced about 5K miles ago. No other recent major work as far as I can tell. I plan to have a PPI done but not as yet. I would rate it as an 8.5 out of 10. My question to the experts on the list is, what is a reasonable price range for such a car?
Thank you in advance,

Educated guess: $18K
With that mileage, an unopened 87 coupe can sell $18 - 21K. The rebuilds can count for or against depending upon the garage that did it & the docs available. Why was it rebuilt/resealed? Abuse or valve guides? Ditto the tranny/clutch - abuse or the fork upgrade or just the clutch? Can you talk with the wrench that did the work?
For rough comparison: I just bought (being delivered next week) a clean 87 Cab 62K for $18K. One owner with most records. Needs tires, rotors & pads ~ $1K work ahead of me. Solid PPI with excellent compression & leakdown.

Thank you for the replies. $18K is what I had in mind too. It looks that this particular car has been on the market for a while. Either the market is soft or there is something wrong with this car that hopefully the PPI will reveal. I plan to look at one more car over the weekend and make a decision on which way to go.
I sold my 88 coupe w/ 113K miles will all records a year ago for 17K. I could have got maybe a 18-19 if the right buyer had come along, but 18K sounds right. I see alot of cars in the same vintage for sale in Panarama for $20K-30K, but i think thay are way over priced
