different models in different years used different codes but for 2.4 yellow was used on Ts I think that black was also used on some Ts
and for 2.7 green was the normal model
Red was used for S and Carrera

Bill has it right. Let me add a little more.
Green indicates the "mid-range" - first the E and then w/'74's the "S" that
was not so hot (i.e. slotted below the Carrera).
I don't know what goes for Euro models, but the '73 RS should not be green - Red - I'd think.
Red was always the hot model such as the S (from '67 to '73).
In later years they just uded black for everything say '84-'88, maybe for SC's also.
The early R's used amber. I don't know if the T's used it but I suspect they did.
You may want to look in Johnson's authenticity book.
