Default Request for help with a body part

Dear members,

I am posting here as I have a project that a body part from cars on your forum could help. I also posted on the turbo forum. I am in the home stretch of a 1976 911 Turbo Carrera restoration, all mechanicals done, etc, I am now on the last step, paint. The car was about to go into the paint booth when in taking everything down to bare metal, they (the group doing the paint/body work) found the bad pitted black rust right below the rear window. The issue is they cannot save the part (way too far gone) and as all of you know that rail below the rear window is actually a part that wraps around and includes the top. So, I am looking to see if anyone has or knows anyone that has a parts car or wrecked car that would be willing to cut out the rail below the rear window. I have shown in my picture attached below (not my car), but shows what I need well, the section I need. As I understand it, it does not have to be a turbo. Any 911 coupe from 1973 - 1989 should be the same here. The paint and body group is looking as am I, we have called about 20 companies like DC Auto, Restoration design, etc., and cannot find a solution. Thx in advance for any assistance you might be able to offer!! Always appreciated!!

3 choices
buy the roof skin piece and use what you need
make the piece. A good metal fabricator can do this well
find a salvage. Problem here is this is a common place for rust and if a vehicle is being cut up it’s likely worse than yours.

The part is 90150305100

that said i see stoddard may have the corner??

Thx! I appreciate the help. I am trying to find solution 3, a part from salvage, etc., car first before spending a lot on the part. Yes, I have been offered the corners from several places, but the bad rot is all across the longer narrow center piece. Thx again! Much appreciated. I have not heard of Stoddard and will call them Monday and see if they have a solution.

if you end up buying the whole skin it’ll still likely cost less than your shop fabricating it. It’s possible you can get someone to buy the rest who wants a sunroof delete panel.

4 shops to try that are specialists in restoration parts for these cars
stoddard
sierra madre collection
pelican
aase sales
