Default Unusual and dangerous frequency valve failure

Got an SC that came on a flatbed with "poor running" so of course i started it to hear what was going on. It was displaying the symptoms of inoperable frequency valve...plus a massive fuel leak pouring out from under the engine. Upon further inspection back there in that area i found that the frequency valve internally failed and was pumping fuel out of the electrical connection! I think the owner was really lucky not to have a porsche barbecue.

Just wondering if anyone has seen this type of failure... this particular valve is 42 years old with just under 200k miles on it so I think it performed its design life cycle, but now I'm wondering if these need to be replaced proactively like fuel hoses.
