Pertronix pointless ignition
Has any of you had any experience with the Pertronix? I put one into my 911 last night and gave it a try. The best dwell angle it could produce was 23.9 degrees. I tried finding different 12 volt sources to remedy the situation, but it still consistantly produced 23.9 degrees of dwell. My car needs at least 38 + or - 3 degrees of dwell. Obviously, the car was pretty angry. I put the good old fashioned points back into the car and got it over to my mechanic for a tech inspection for this weekends DE. He said that he has had this problem with a lot of 911's. The 914's always work out, but the 911's are really hard to get dialed in, mostly because of the large variety of distributors used in this car. In fact, we are replacing our distributor because we cannot get enough advance from the one we have.
Anyway, any advice from your experiences would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Andy
