Too much oil 911SC

I don’t know about the earlier cars, but the pump worked great on my 964. I was kicking myself for over filling and it wasn’t my first oil change.

Hey Chris,
You've got a bunch of good feedback already. But may I just say to anyone relatively new to these engines that you are better off simply filling to, or just above, the low mark on the dipstick. This way you have lots of room for "filling error." There is a wide swath of margin between low-high on the dipstick, and with around 12 quarts in the entire engine, lines, and cooler, there is zero benefit to filling above even halfway on the dipstick. Just food for thought for the next time, anyway, as we've all been there.

so on a somewhat related note .....
15 years ago when i got my car .. the oil level sender didn't work , and like most i wanted everything to work perfect. So i ordered a replacement oil sender. I think from Pelican but don't remember , anyway it said must be paired with updated dipstick , so i ordered the updated dipstick.
we all know the dipstick is the gospel , but i wanted my gauge to just work
when it came i saw how Porsche resolved the over filling issue ... I fill to the max every time and never worry about it. No matter how hard I drive nothing ever goes into the intake ... ''
oh by the way it is 2 litres between add and full.
i now top up my car after warming it on an oil change by peering through the back window of my car.. when the gauge reads full its good to go .. and right on the full line.
