Recently picked up an 87 Carrera which has the G50 transmission. The previous owner of this car put in a lightweight flywheel.

In driving the car the clutch bite point seems to be high, almost at the top (around 3/4 or even a bit more).

Curious where other people's bite points are. I was told that this is normal given the lightweight flywheel. Wondering if I do decide to go back to stock where I could expect the bite to be.

It's hard to say, but my old g50 engagement started maybe 1/3 off floor and full engagement about 3/4? Nice feel very progressive, felt "normal" the flywheel shouldn't affect the engagement point, do you know what other clutch bits are in the car?

I'm not sure about the other clutch bits. To give some more detail - let's say I'm at a light and my right foot is pressed on the brake. When I release the clutch the bite point is essentially in line with the height of where my right foot is on the brake.

Every clutch/flywheel that I have installed that wasn't stock, had some drawback. Chatter, noise, etc. Unless you have a real need for an "upgraded" setup I would go back to stock everything. My G50 (stock) clutch engagement feels very comfortable. Not too high, not too low. Super smooth, the it was designed to be.
