Default questions about 1989 911 Speedster

Hi - I searched and couldn't find a lot of info.

Interested in this car but need more power. What are the options besides a chip and exhaust? Can turbos be added? upgraded engine?

Can manual crank windows be retrofitted to electric?

89 speedster is a valuable and rare bird. A very nice machine , you could certainly add a steve Wong chip to give you some extra HP. But if that is your true desire , i would pass on adding turbos and other mods and look for a turbo or a 964 or another already modded Porsche with a 3.6.

89 speedsters are certainly underpowered compared to what is available today. All of your desired mods can be accomplished but my .02 as soon as you make the mods the value of the car will diminish. You may want to consider a late 80s wide body cabriolet for less money to modify or a 930 cab.

There was a 89 speedster listed on BAT ( earlier this year?) with a modified turbo motor - It didn't sell, was listed by a dealer, so shouldn't be difficult to make contact.

The speedsters are really more enjoyable with the top down and manual windows are certainly not an inconvenience. Good luck

I own a fully customized '89 Strosek Mega Speedster built by Bob Anziano's Bad Boys Cars. In the 90's, it was all about updating, not backdating, and they added 964 Speedster style door cards with electric windows (and a few other 964 updates). You can have the 3.2l stroked out to 3.6l like mine, but it will cost you $$. I'll post more photos of my vehicle in a separate thread.

I swapped a very low mileage 95 3.6 in my 89 rather than rebuild a low powered 3.2 engine and i don’t regret it …
Seems like you want HP, perhaps a Varioram 993 would suit you better , forget about a TT version as they are priced sky high now.
Like previously mentioned, modifying a rare Speedster would take away a lot from the original value. As for my car with the 3.6, i don't plan
on selling it so the value has no importance to me , it’s a fun car to drive not a collector item and that’s the way i like it !

Cheers
Phil
