Default QuickJack 5000TL

Has anyone tried using a QuickJack 5000TL with an 87 911? I know the 3000 series will work but was concerned the length of the 5000 jack would be too long for the short wheelbase. The only savior could be the rear jack point is offset towards the center of the car so a longer jack might work.
I know it will work for my 996 and 992 GT3's, but don't think it will work for my 87 911.

For a 911, the length isn't as important as you might think, as the QJ goes on the inside of the tires, not between them. The lift points are on the pinch welds of the tub.

The 5000TL seems to have replaced the 5000SLX, but I think the important specs are pretty much the same - max lift point spread is 60 inches, and the frames themselves are the same size (11 inches wide x 70 inches long).

The 5000SLX definitely works (I have one), so the 5000TL should as well.

This thread has some excellent tips on how to lift an older 911: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...ft-points.html

Hey Mark,
This is very helpful. You are correct about the main specs between SLX and TL are basically identical. I guess it is just what mount points you use is what makes a difference. In what I saw the "circle" mount point are not being used, but other "approved" points are being used. In the next week or so I will try it myself on my 87 911 and report back with picture of the exact mounting points. On all my other Porsches I am using the circle mount points and on my X5 I used the jack pad hard plastic mounting points.

Here is another useful thread: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...3-2-981-a.html

On the figure below, I use the the two locations at each end of "D", and the two unmarked corners between "B" and "C". You'll probably need to move AC hoses out of the way at the front. The front and rear locations are not the same distance apart (left to right), so the QJ frames are not exactly parallel. But close enough that it's not a problem.
