Question Using fuel level gauge on Weber 40 IDAs

I'm trying to verify the correct float level on my Weber carbs. I'm using a float level gauge, and it has two sets of lines. Should I use the upper two or bottom two lines for float level measurement? Can you get an accurate measurement without the engine running?

For Webers you need to use the upper marks.

I do the measure with the engine off. It makes it easier to read since it isn't vibrating. If you want to be sure, set it with the engine off then start the engine and make sure it doesn't change.

Hi Rick:

Like Chuck said, use the upper pair of lines, the lower ones are for Zenith carbs.

Now, these guages should always used with the engine running to be accurate. This is how Weber intended this tool to be used and its SOP.

Make certain that your fuel pressure is set to 3.5 to 4.0 psi, too. Your float levels are based on these values, as well.
