Smile Project Slant

Hello! I've been driving my 1975 911S 3.2L Slant Conversion for about a year now since it got a fresh exterior makeover and I love it. But..... I have never been able to just leave a car as is :-P

My personal taste is a little on the extreme street side. I've built Sema cars and had vehicles featured in Super Street so I've been itching to do something to the Slant. I love the whale tail and the Guards Red so I am definitely keeping that part the same.

New suspension, exhaust and wider wheels to fill up the fender gaps are high on the list. The interior needs some attention for sure. Motor work will be towards the end since it is in good working condition. I would like to add a turbo for obvious reasons. Some carbon for the exterior and interior because I like a sportier look.

Here is a pic of it as it sits now before I start taking it apart again lol

Awesome! I'm also in the process of doing a slantnose build.

1987 3.2 - recently replaced all shocks with bilstein, turbo tie rods, wheel bearings, porsche boxster front brake caliper/disk retrofit
I've also been working to replace all of the tan/cream interior to black.

Love it!!!!!! Especially the interior, looks real good. I'm a 3.2L too, we'll have to keep in touch!

I really like your seats and door pulls.

thanks! Looking forward to seeing your build come along as well!

Seats are custom reupholstered Recaro Classic LX from a company called Rolla Resources (on FB and IG).

I think the price for the pair of seats were around $1850 shipped from Malaysia.

I had to source my own seat sliders/rails and side adjuster covers (which are getting hard to find). But overall, I’m really happy with the seats. They’re so much more supportive and comfortable than the factory seats.

door cards, metal floorboards, footrests and pedals are all from rennline.

That's not bad for the seats. Idk if I'm changing mine out or not since I have the power seats.

There has been an unusual amount of rain in the Los Angeles area. Haven't been able to take the car out much.

Ayyee! Square headlight gang!

I’m currently trying to figure out how to improve my lighting situation.

A) My fog lights don’t work. I need to check wiring and bulbs to figure out why.
B) My headlights are super dim, I can barely see anything at night.

The headlights are the best part!

Mine are't that bright but I rarely drive in the dark. Especially considering my dash lights don't work right now lol

How wide are your wheels? My fitment will need to be addressed at some point.

These wheels are just a temporary fix for now. They're Fifteen52 Formula Classic, 2-piece forged wheels.
18x9.5 et 35 (front)
18x11 et 15 (rear)
Toyo Proxes Sport A/S tires
235/45/18 (front)
275/40/18 (rear)

They are BMW fitment, (they were off of my Z3 M Roadster and before that, they were on my Z4 M Coupe) 5x120 hub bore 72.56
I used a 1.5" conversion spacer to get them to fit properly onto the 911

I'm juggling 4 car projects right now, so each car needs to get their turn. Soon enough, I'll be able to order some proper wheels and tires to have some better fitment on this car
I'm currently working on a 958 Cayenne Diesel, and making it into an overland/offroad rig.

I sold the M Roadster last year. I’m still tinkering with the M Coupe, and the GX470 is my current off road rig that I will be selling and replacing with the Cayenne Diesel

Have you ever looked at the wiring for the headlights? A lot of those 80s slant nose conversion kits had some really suspect wiring setups to power those headlights and the controls to raise/lower them. Might be worth looking into as I know a few folks who own 80s slant conversions and had to redo all the headlight wiring to get proper power into them, etc. And not to scare you, but two of them found a lot of melted wires when they started to dig into it all.

i haven't yet, but it's something I need to do. The headlights are fine, they're just dim compared to modern HID xenon and LED lights

Did a drive with PCA LA up Angeles Crest Highway to Newcombs Ranch. Had to get a pic before they tore the landmark sign down.

This was my first mountain drive in the Slant. It was definitely challenging without all the modern driving assistance features my Bentley has but I had fun. There was only two air cooled on the cruise, we stayed in the back of the pack, couldn't keep up with the 996 turbos and GT3's lol
