Default Engine bay lid won't open anymore

Hi All-
Can anyone help me figure out how to open it?
I am able to pull the lid release from the drivers doorframe and it seems to disengage but when I go to the back of the car and try to open the lid, it's not even opening a crack to allow me to slip my fingers in and release the catch.
Not sure what's going on. Never had this issue before.
Car is 1987 3.2 coupe
Thanks

Do you have a friend that can help? it may be worth having a second person push down then pull up on the engine lid while the first pulls the release handle in the door jamb.

The latch is also designed to release if the cable breaks or becomes disconnected. I have heard, but not tried it, so attempt at your own risk. I have heard that you can unthread the T-handle off the end of the pull cable in the door jamb. this will allow the cable to slide down into the tube and should release the latch at which point you should be able to wiggle and pull the lid and get it to pop open.

yeah this happened to me a few years ago.
have someone the pull while you wiggle side to side , then be VERY careful with the adjustment when you are playing with it.

Well I got it open- just think I got lucky.
I pushed down very firmly on the lid and closed it all the way. Then pulled on the release again and this time it popped open.
I inspected the latch and spring and it seems ok but sprayed some WD40 on it so hopefully it doesn't get stuck again.

Glad to hear you got it open. When I got my 84, I had just the opposite issue. It would pop open at random. I sprayed a little lube on it and haven't had an issue since. Hope you have the same degree of success.
