Cracks in door check strap mounting surface...can I have these welded?

I got the inside plate correct the 1st time but didn’t realize the outside plate would actually fit inside the hole in the outside side of the door but it did. Second times a charm.

yeah i attached fishing line to mine until i had everything in place for obvious reasons ...

I saw that video where the guy used fishing line to hold the plate. Of course I saw it after I dropped the plate into the dark hole 😞 Luckily I fished it out with a hanger first time 😆
BTW I had to dremel the long edges off to get it inside.

Yep, I had to cut mine down considerably to get it to fit

The metal looks like it has integrity: If it were mine and the kit didn't fix it, I would TIG it, from the outside and the inside -- if you can get the torch in there and see what you are doing. A few quick tacks, keep it from heating up, use a copper weld backer, done.

Grinding it smooth is simple.

Then put the plates on after.

id love to see this done if anyone has pics, i've never seen anyone able to accomplish this ..

Pretty sure that the 993 A-pillar side, not the door side:

This is the only thread I've seen that shows the door side welding, but it a far more extensive repair than the OP would need.

yeah not even close to the same issue.

that was a pretty involved repair but 15-20 hours ?? come on seriously ??
