I've read that the use of Vaseline will condition / preserve the anodized finish on Fuchs wheels.
Is there a recommendation for a more modern product that seals the surface and repels (rather than attracts) brake dust and dirt - something that will not adversely affect the anodized finish over time and will not add gloss?
I think it is pretty durable, my Fuchs have over 90K miles and most of the anodizing still looks fine. They do need to be repainted though.
I think the Vaseline is still the way to go, just be sure to use mild soap safe for anodizing when washing the car, don't use most wheel cleaners. Use the wrong stuff and they will stain, doesn't matter what they have been treated with.
You could wax the black portion to make that easier to clean.
There's not a huge repository of information out on the web to draw from on this topic. Vaseline for the anodized rims looks to be a consistent recommendation. I'll give that a shot.
For the painted portion however, I don't want to use anything that will add gloss. I'm going to give the following product a try for the painted center sections...
I had my custom 997 wheels (black aluminum) professionally ceramic coated for $100 per wheel. Prevented the purpling of the black aluminum.
You have to decide how much to try to keep a car you use in perfect condition. I figure I'll just have them refinished after a few years if they really have issue and I care. Though just using dish soap and water and mine have no stains (other than brake dust).
