Header Size for 3.2
Steve..... or anyone with relevant experience.
What is a good size for headers for a 1987 3.2L carrera engine. I am considering the European Racing Headers in 1 5/8 od with adaptor for factory 2 in muffler. Will there be any change power versus the SSI's I currently have installed, all other things remaining the same?
The engine is currently stock, and may get GE-60 cams with carbs someday (PMO 46). Will the 1 5/8od work with such a setup, or is there a better size header.
I no longer need the SSI's as it is a track car, and the heating system has been removed.
I want an header that will work well with what I have now, but will excel if/when I do the carb conversion.
Input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jason

You'd be very happy with George's 1 5/8" headers on your 3.2. That's what we usually use.
These will allow you to build for the future and not have to buy these again, later on.
With your current configuration, you'll get a tad more upper-end power, compared to the SSI's. When you install different cams, install a different induction and raise the compression, those 1/58" headers will be very useful.

On the same note... would you recommend the European Racing Headers 1 3/4 OD size for a stock or modified 3.2 engine, or is this too large.
Thanks,
Jason
