That could be the wire that sends power to the electric clutch on the AC compressor. Is that where the other end goes?

Look around that side of the engine compartment. Mine ran along the steel shelf under the oil filter. Look along there and all the way to the back. It probably runs through the tunnel (where the shifter is located) from the front of the car to the back. It should come up somewhere behind the engine.

Seems likely. Is there a male blade inside the sheath?

You could check and see if there is 12V there when you turn on the AC before connecting.

I just wanted to say thank you to you guys that helped. I put in the fuse today and plugged the black wire and the compressor spun and cold air came out of the vents!!! I am not sure if it is cold enough as it wasn’t a hot day but still, very happy!
I also assume that is the compressor engages when the fan switch is turned on it is working? If it was low on Freon I don’t think the fan would spin, right?
Anyway, thank you again! It saved me taking it to a shop and was very cool to tackle myself!

That's great, congratulations! I don't think the system is smart enough to know if there is Freon in it or not. Use a thermometer and check the temp coming out of the vents vs the temp in the cockpit. Should be 20F-30F delta I think.

Only real way to confirm if it is properly charged is to use a set of gauges. Not sure where you live, but if it doesn't get hot there until next summer, I would probably get it serviced in the spring and see how it performs when it gets warm.
