Default Rear wiper defective

Hi guys.

I have a problem with the rear wiper motor.

When I bought the car the rear wiper worked, but extremely slowly. I bought a replacement second-hand motor and fitted that. But I now have no working rear wiper at all.

So maybe the new/2ndhand motor is duff? Put the old one back on and that doesn't work at all now either.

Anyway, I have checked the power supply at the motor. There are two brown wires, one red and one red/blk trace.

With the ignition OFF and the dash switch for the wiper OFF, both red wires are live. With the ignition ON and the dash switch ON, only the solid red wire is live. Is this normal?

Just incase I put the wires back on incorrectly, can someone tell me which wire goes which terminal please. Don't think I messed up, but you never know.

Thanks

Brown wire to terminal 31 on wiper motor
Brown/black (and could be brown/white) to terminal 31b
Red/Black to terminal 53
Red to terminal 53a

Thanks sriser.

Well at least I have been able to confirm that all the wires are where they should be.

I still don't understand why the reds are live with the switch and the ignition turned off though? Is this normal?
