Going to Europe... what parts to bring back?
I'll be in Europe this summer, and thought it would be a good opportunity to bring back some of those euro parts that are stupidly expensive here in the states. Ones that I've thought of so far are:
Euro pre-muffler
Euro bumperettes ($350 a pair!?!)
Euro tail light lenses
Anything else that I should get?

I don't think you'll find anything much cheaper in the way of genuine Porsche parts there, especially with the current exchange rate with the Euro.
Dismantler, however are another story. If you can find some there, you will generally see meticulously maintained parts storage facilities and reasonable prices.
Unfortunately I haven't gone parts hunting there for over 12 years, so I can't recall where any of these shops are located. but if yo do some web searching (try something like "gebracht Porsche teile" which means "used porsche parts) you might have some success.

jlkline is right. I get all my parts online from back home.
Even if the exchange rate was better, stuff would still be cheaper in the U.S.
Example: 3.2 Idle Control Valve
Germany - €170 plus 16%VAT
U.S. - $130 online delivered
If you can find what you need used, different story, but try to find it at home first.

Guess I should have stated up front that I was looking for used parts..... the things that would be abundant at wrecking yards across the pond because all cars have them, but rarely seen over here.
The "gebracht Porsche teile" is a great tip, that's exactly what I needed!

If you go to England, get early (69-73) passenger's-side armrests and early and middle (69-77) driver's-side rear-view mirrors. The early LHD (US and ROW) cars' driver's armrests don't have the pull handle (a pain), and it's hard to get the large or small rectangle chrome mirrors here for the passenger's side in LHD countries.
