Default Narrow Slant Nose

Hey... Any know any history of a narrow slant nose? The width matches a standard SC. Has hideaway doors just like a 930-style slant nose, but no venting on top of the fenders. I'm sure it's something that was done in the aftermarket at some point.. this particular car is a 74 chassis with an 81 3.0. History shows it lived in Beverly Hills, Ca at some point in it's life, so maybe the work was done there? If anyone knows anything about these "different" looking slant nose fenders, let me know... Thanks!

Hi Karl, are they steel fenders or composite? I actually like the look of the narrow slantnose models, never really cared for the big rockers sticking out so far, or the vents in the top of the fenders. I have seen a lot of aftermarket wide body slant fenders, and the vents usually look like crap and the shape is just not right at the wheel wells. Great looking car.

Thanks! Is your slantnose the regular widebody, or an oddball like mine? I guess I'd just like to know where it came from.. I'm thinking some crazy customizer did it..

The fenders are steel.. stock rockers, and the rears are steel, as well. The rear seems wider than SC/Carrera, though. Just put it next to my friend's stock 85 and mine looks wider. So hard to tell.. Was the RS flare of the early 70s wider than SC? I don't know what to think, but I guess I like the way it looks for now. Everything else about the car is new or recently rebuilt, and it handles great with the Konis and Weltmeister t-bars.. that's why I bought it. I'll probably do a 930 style body eventually.. maybe Winter 2004.

Mine is a Guards Red Cabriolet. It is not the wide body model. These narrow ones just look to me to have cleaner lines than the wider ones. I had a factory wide body model before, it seemed like I was always dragging or knocking my ankle on the rocker when I was getting in. I only have one crappy pic of mine in the computer, and I can't get it to post or go to anything, some weird Adobe format, supposed to get a CD with some new pics. Maybe then I can show you mine.

So yours is narrow, too? Any idea where it originated from? There's no such thing as "factory" slantnose that's not widebody... Send a pic when you've got one.. I'd like to see it! -Karl

Nice looking car. If memory serves me, a company called "BB" did some steel narrow body slant nose cars. I think They did both a car that looks as if they grafted a 928 front end directly to a 911. They also did a slant nose with a headlight approach like the one you show in the Pic. These guys were making cars in the late 70's and very early 80's. I havn't heard anything about BB for years though. Hope this helps. Good luck in your quest.

The guy I bought the 911 from had a few 928 cabs in his collection. Cool looking car, huh?

Yeah, i remember Road&Track Mag did a cover w/ BB slantnose and 928 noses/headlights on 911's back in the day. Thanks, Jim F for jogging my memory......those cars are responsible for my 911 addiction now.

Does anyone know where I might find a set of narrow slope fenders?

Did you ever find a source for the narrow slope fenders? I am looking for a pair as well.

I think B&B has been out of business for a very long time but they certainly were forerunners with respect to that style front fender.

Early 1970s RS cars had the same size rear fenders as the later 911SC fenders -- that arrived on the scene in 1978. (That's where they got the idea!)
