RE:potential purchase of 85 Carrera
I am a multiple Porsche owner, unfortunately sold my 993 C4S 2 years ago (dumb *** I was).
Looking to get into a 85 G series.coupe
Need some input
70k original car, original paint car
Here's the catch:
only 4K of usage in the last 10 years - speedometer doesn't look messed with, Carfax consistent.
Car is very original.
Clutch is original
I am very knowledgeable about these cars and know what to look for.
If PPI is good (no rust, good leak down and compression test), am I potentially walking into a Pandora's Box?
Am I fooling myself that I could drive this car 400 miles home?

nice Golden
they are all potential Pandora's boxes, but if you know what to look for you could drive it back
odo doesn't bother me; if it starts a few times, runs fine while you drive it around block several times, why not?
will you be in cell coverage the whole time?

I would do it. Wouldn't worry about the last 10 years, any idea how far it has been driven in the last couple? Fresh tires if they are old, AAA card, maybe change the fan belt before you go.
Even if you break down on the way, from that distance a flatbed tow home isn't going to bankrupt you.
