Installing Carrera Tail

Installing Carrera Tail
Guys, feel free to laugh (I'm obviously not at this point). I am trying to install a genuine Porsche Carrera tail on a genuine Porsche engine lid (have the base gasket). The damn thing just doesn't appear to center, it is shifted to one side by approx. 3 mm more (say 1/8"). This is when the holes align pretty much almost A OK all of them. I've enlarged the holes in an attempt to make it center but from my repeated tries it looks like it is a significant ovalization that I have to make to all of them. What is the wisdom of the list, is this 3 mm (1/8") shift to one side acceptable or not? thanks, George ('79 911 SC)

That doesn't sound right. I would think that the difference off-center would be noticable, especially when your eyes fix on such a large spoiler. Sure it's the right one and not the "turbo" one?

It is the Carrera tail, the turbo is the tea tray, I know how they look like. It is noticeable, it's not really obvious but at a closer look you can see it's shifted to one side. There is of course the esthetic aspect but also the balance of the car and this is what I am more concerned about.

I guess it's a bit late for this but I would have bought a new lid w/spoiler and not tried to mod the existing one. At least when you try to sell the car you could offer both lids and open the market for your car up a bit. Now you have a moded lid which may be undesirable to some. Just my $.02, good luck.
