Had the trim rings painted to match body color, h5 rings don't fit. Running 55 / 65 watt bulbs for now, will be installing relays before installing higher wattage bulbs.
There are relay kits available for 1989 and earlier 911's, 964's have a different fuse setup and a Rennlist member has put together a kit for them.
Awesome, that really helps! I already did the relay kit, have the h4 bulbs and the conversion plugs so I am part of the way there...The H4s were the lens and the housing correct?

Yes, the ones I am running where out of a 1973 or 74 911, I didn't like the condition one of the reflectors and replaced both with new AL reflectors

Can someone clarify what the difference is between the expensive H4 kit that pelican and suncoast sell (Porsche Headlamp Conversion Kit - High/Low H4 Headlamp - Hella 002395991)
and the "off-road" cheap kit pelican sells (Porsche Headlamp Conversion Kit - High/Low H4 Headlamp - Hella 002395991)?

I noticed this too. I think this second is just the "lens" itself, without the housing. From what I gather without the Euro housing, there is no way to get this to work with the DOT style housing.

The less expensive kit converts 7 inch sealed beam headlights to halogen lights. It's a direct replacement for 7-inch round sealed beam headlights only. Works in any car that uses 7 inch sealed beam lights, I have used similar lights in a 1976 2002 BMW, a 1979 C10 Chevrolet truck and a 1997 NA Miata. Look at the profile of both lights and how they mount.

Yeah these (7") are the flat style round lenses I but in my old Rabbit so many years ago. I think aI paid $45 for the pair back then lol! $120 vs $1200, such a bummer! I'll keep looking for a lightly used set...

I just finished the unstall of the H4s this past weekend. Used the cheaper conversion kit and it looks the same as my old sealed beams but the light is far, far better. The light they put out is perfect for what I want. Bright but not too bright. Not too "white". The install took 45 minutes. Very easy. I also finished my classic retrofit fuse panel install after lengthening all the top wires using 12g wire and butt connectors. All in all, about 12 hours for the install.
