the car has 964 turbo body updates. Im thinking the rocker panel covers are perhaps the same as a 964 turbo if you are lucky.

The fender flares should be the same as the 930 and therefore you could put this car back to "impact bumper" era bumpers and rocker panel covers which would be a step in right direction.

When i look at this car however, i see a donor for a RSR IROC back date.

Without the engine being tip top, buying this car for 20k is not a great buy. (unless you want to build a RSR IROC)

I had to do head studs on my 1979 SC and that sky rocketed the price.

Is there anyone in the San Diego area that would want to look this over with me one more time? I called some Porsche Shops in the area but they do not offer a mobile PPI option.
I would pay for your time, just trying to find someone knowledgeable on the car to assist with compression check, verifying rotors, suspension work done, brakes, wheel offset, Cam tensioner version etc.
I think I have seller close to a price I am comfortable with, just need a little help to make final decision to walk or buy?
I will bring tools and seller is very easy to work with.

Thanks

If you don't want the car just as it sits, RUN!!

If you like it exactly as it sits and I mean exactly, buy it and drive the hell out of it!

Cheers!

Been away for awhile so thought I would update my last year.
I did purchase it. Rebuilt engine with 9.8 CR pistons using fresh plated cylinders. 964 cams. Total seal top end with valve guides and seats/valves, already had steel studs. Went with ITB's from triumph kit using AEM Infinity control. Dyno runs to tune at 240 HP on 315 rear tires.
Lots of electrical updates with custom engine wiring harness, LED headlights, all new rubber lines and hoses. New custom wheels and all suspension rubber.
Good color sand and buff with one quarter panel repaint. Not show quality but great driver paint.

Great car, total in now at $38K. I have had offers of $60K but will not sell. Too much fun.

Who makes the wheels? What size are they? Are they available in black?

forget changing it back , first if you can even find someone to do it it would be a miracle these days, secondly it would cost so so much that you could but an original car cheaper. If the car is a bargain, then buy as is and keep as is. I would never do it though. Buy an original

I think what you have presented here is worlds better than what you started with. The wheels alone really transformed the car. I would think a mirror change would farther bring the car back to the era you first described in your OP. A front bumper change would be a great step as $$$ allow.

Great work.
