Default New to me 1984 3.2 Carrera Turbo Look Flachbau

My second Porsche, after the 964 I have been thinking of getting a 3.2 Carrera for a few years now.

The slant nose style has grown on me over the years and I was immediately enamored with this one when I found it south of LA this week.

I drove it home 350 miles today and the unmolested 3.2 with just over 67,000 miles runs and sounds great!

I am new to the slantnose cars so if anyone is an expert please speak up. This was the first slant 3.2 I had ever seen myself.

The fenders are steel and the conversion was done when the car was new after being purchased at Bozzani Porsche/Audi in Covina.

One of the reasons the miles are so low is because it was stored in a garage for almost two decades before the last owner decided to part with it.

My first 3.2, and slant nose all in one and I couldn't be happier!

That's a clean looking car , looks well done !
A steel wide body conversion is on my bucket list for my 89

Cheers
Phil

Generally not a big fan of the slant nose but that's a nice one! Ahh...the 80s

Always liked these cars - definitely a period look - and I suspect it will regain popularity as more interest in 80's vintage grows

slantnoses are so iconic of the 80s! looks great.
one must always be in possession of cocaine while driving a car like this, though.

Beautiful car. Never really like the slant nosed cars as the association with cocaine/drug dealers was just to common. But there is no discounting that beauty.

You know I felt the same way about slants and the rockers for a long time, but my taste changed over the years. Now looking at the details of this thing up close everyday I don’t know how I could ever go back lol.

On another note, last night I pulled out 35 lbs. worth of aftermarket stereo, alarms, bluetooth, satellite radio, etc. that has accumulated in the car since 1984. I was impressed with how much it was carrying around, practically a home entertainment system!

Default Enjoy your flachbau

Enjoy your car, she is beautiful and an icon for sure. I had an ‘87 505 for a while and loved the look. For me, the only weirdness with the car was, having driven traditional 911’s for so long, the loss of the visual cues of the front corners. I didn’t realize how much I used the traditional 911 headlight/fender profiles as references until driving the flachbau.

Haha, I was. Then the clutch pedal went to the floor ... and never came back up. After a few weeks she is back up and running with a new clutch etc. While I was in there I replaced the linkage bushings with brass ones and it shifts so much better now. I also went ahead and put the Euro pre-muffler on and lost the 930 muffler that had been rigged with a cross pipe under there. Fabbed up a quick tip with some tubing I had lying around as well. A little more weight savings, but every bit counts and the sound is amazing!
