Any way to check a 10 digit VIN?

I'm looking at potentially buying a 911sc, but before moving along with PPIs I have been running vehicle history reports on potential cars. So far this has proven pretty helpful as I have discovered cars that had been in fairly major accidents, but I've ran into the issue of a 1980 only having a 10 digit vin. Is there any way to get a history report on this car?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Simple answer: No
VIN's were not standardized by Federal law until MY1981 when the 17-digit VIN was introduced. The key is looking at enough cars so you can see good from bad, what we had to do prior to the advent of the title report services (which frankly have very little utility on these older cars, run one to insure it doesn't say any negative, but DO NOT under any circumstance assume that if it doesn't say anything negative that in ANY way means nothing has... Caveat Emptor!
