Best Quality Carbon Fiber prodcts for 911
I am interested in replacing all of the following with lightweight Carbon Fiber parts. Hood, engine cover, front and rear bumpers, complete doors, and front fenders in carbon Fiber.
I am most interested in 2 manufacturesnamely GT-racing and MA Shaw. I have heard that no matter who makes this stuff that it will just take a long time, allot or work and allot of patience to get these components to fit proper no matter who makes them. So I am trying to decide between the 2 companies mentioned and perhaps more. Who makes the best products? Which ones are the "truest" fit, whos Carbon if of better quality and I would love to hear from people with experience with these parts and perhaps these companies. Of course both people tell me theirs is best, but i would like to hear from people that have actually purchased these items and would love to get feedback positive and negative so that i can make a better informed decision.
Thanks all

Hi Ryan:
FWIW,.....We use Getty Design's CF products on all of the race care we build here.
Of all the different make parts we've tried, these have been the most consistent in fit and finish.
Regardless, you must hand fit ALL these aftermarket body parts.

My car uses MA Shaw stuff (doors, front trunk, rear deck/duck tail, front fenders, front air dam, rear bumper, engine sheet metal and fan shroud and block-off plates) and I'm quite impressed with the quality!

Grant,
Ok specifically, with the doors, does everythign work as far as the window regulators, do they mimic the origional door? I would think the complete door would be the most difficult part to get right.

Carbon Doors
Ryan - Mine has no window regulators - it has the RSR type windows which are lowered and secured with a leather strap. The fit of the door is great and they slam shut with a nice thud even though they weigh almost nothing.
Here's a photo of the interior, but it doesn't show the door detail very well...

I don't think any of these parts maintain the regular window hardware (if they do, let me know).
Another issue is -- if you have no side roll cage -- what is between you and some dumbo SUV driver that T-bones you?

Weight - Wait
My hood has some bad paint, and I was thinking one day of just replacing it with carbon fiber. Then it hit me, wouldn't it make more sense to change body parts in the back, to better balance the car?
Those parts would be:
1. Rear bumper
2. Engine cover
3. Targa glass
Now this would be expensive, right?
Would I get just about the same affect if I removed the non-working A/C unit?
PS: Great car Grant!

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Randy makes an excellent point though - don't even think about getting carbon (or FG) doors without a cage that protects you front T-bones. Mine is even a bit minimal for comfort and may have to upgrade.

Yes - I have seen them (mine is a thin plastic shell), but I don't know who supplies them
