Default Wevo Battery Box Group Buy

I have been in contact with Hayden at Wevo regarding a group buy on the smugglers battery box. We can get the battery box and the Miata battery (25 lbs) for $275. That $50 savings. This will be a direct order and therefore there will be a 3-4 week lead time. The battery ships for free but freight will be required on the battery box. CA residents will pay sales tax.

We need at least 8 people, me and 7 others.

It is a sweet piece!

Why?

Somebody clue me in. What's the point of doing this? Move the weight farther back (bad), and costs 275$ for a 25lb 475CCA battery when my stock battery is 850 CCA. I can get an Odyssey 925 for 160$ and it weighs under 20lbs.

Please correct me if I have missed the point, I'm just here to learn.

The Wevo kit includes the fiberglass battery box and the battery. The alone battery retails for $85. I believe the Odyssey 925 weighs 25lbs also.

It moves the weight lower and away from the drivers weight. There are many opinions on moving weight back. In most, and mine, it is better to move the weight lower, on the opposite side as the driver and behind the front axle. Moving the weight back reduces the polar moment of inertia (a good thing).

Not to mention the Wevo box is a very slick install. A good start in cleaning up the trunk

All good points. Thanks for the knowledge. But then what do you put in place of the battery, how about a Spiderman lunch box full of ham sandwiches?

I think a nice 12-pack cooler would fit perfectly up there.
