Default 911 cab finally arrives

Well today was the day, i'm finally back behind the wheel of a 911. I've already got 3 coats of Zaino on her and I am meticolously going over the car with a fine tooth comb. The only issues I can find are the need to replace the cab top headliner and it's in need of some new rubber, everything else is immaculate. obviuosly it's got a few stone chips but nothing serious.

I have a new Momo wheel that I'm going to put on, however my question is how, once the existing horn pad is removed do you get to the nut that's about 6" down the steering column. I've checked the archives to no avail.

I will post some pics as soon as the weather brightens.

I took off my 71 steering wheel years ago.If I remeber correctly you need a 22mm socket
with an extension and breaker bar.Sometimes they're are on pretty tight.I was lucky mine came off without much struggle.

Hey Charles,
Steve is right. Use the breaker bar w/ extension & socket. Tim and I do about 25 steering wheel upgrades on 3.2's every year. Tweeks has the rubber you'll need, the outer seals are about $149.99 and the inner ones are $60 (off the top of my head). It's easy to do the seals, no more than a half hour and all you need is a phillips head. Enjoy the new wheels!

Thanks Steve, Stephen G-50 and Ian..........

Picked up the socket and breaker bar this am from my mechanics, I'll tackle this tonight. Stephen, thanks for the head's up.........what do you mean by seals? I may have mis-led you. Got lucky this morning, I picked up a new Dansk single in dual out and pre-muffler for $500 from my mechanic. Apparently somebody had stiffed him for it a few months back and he just wants to clear it out.

I've got to do something with the wheels, I've got the factory 6 & 7's they are a little faded and a little too skinny for my liking. I've checked with wheel enhancement and they are about $1350 a pair for some 9's, I'll probably move the 7's to the front and have them re-finished................here we go again.............CHA - CHING!!

Check out Pelican Classifieds and e-bay for fuchs - I found some 8's (the rare 951 8's) and 9's for $1500 total. Congrats on the dansk score - Now if you were like my wife you would be bragging on how you saved money!

Charles,
The 'seals' are the strips where the top meets the top of the window on both sides of the car. Hope this helps you out.
Thanks,
stephen

G-50.......I don't think I know the meaning of saving money. Luckily my wife doesn't care............no kids to support, just a dog. We treat all of our money as fun money........you never know what tomorrow can bring.

Thanks for the info on the Dansk stuff early last month...........it's much appreciated.
