are the sc,"carrera" // "turbo" whale tails identical other than the rubber lip. another words, are the bases or if the bases are the same can the turbo lip be removed and the carrera lip be installed with no mods? or are they two totally differant units? thanks!!

A Quiet Boom

The turbo tails are different, with the later intercooled models having a larger base to make room for the intercooler. The early non-intercooled turbo tails are very similar to carrera tails including the rubber lip.

The only interchangeability that I know for sure is that the rubber surrounds on the carrera and 3.3 turbo tail are interchangeable. I know because I've done it. The bolt pattern and width are exactly the same. Even though some people don't realize it, they are of the same width. Now, as far as the rubber on the non-intercooled turbo tail fitting on a carrera or turbo tail, I don't know and don't think so due to the different mounting surface.
