Question Engine stalling out

I have a 74 911, with a 83 3.0 litre, when I remove the the cap off of the oil tank to check the oil the engine dies. Any insight would be great.
Thanks. Matt

You need a restrictor in the rubber hose that comes out of the oil tank filler neck. (I can't recall where it goes to exactly...crankcase breather maybe?), but that's the culprit. My mechanic machined one and inserted it into the hose, but I would suspect they can be purchased in some form.
