Default 991.1 or 991.2

Forgive me if this has already been discussed but I’m new to rennlist. I am in the process of evaluating on whether to buy a 2015 or 16 911 GTS or 2017-18 911 GTS I’ve been educated about the differences between the naturally aspirated engine versus the TwinTurbo can someone give me the pros and cons of this and over the long haul which motor be worth more later. I am concerned on whether I should buy a car that will be considered five years old in a few months versus buying a car that will be two or three years old and a few months I found a beautiful black 2015 with only 14,000 miles on it I really like the car but I wanna make sure that I am making a good decision. Having driven both of them I like them both equally. I do like the growl of the naturally aspirated engine I’ve also been told that it’s easier to add horsepower to the TwinTurbo versus the naturally aspirated engine so that’s something for me to consider. Thank you guys in advance for your input and information it is greatly appreciated.

This is the forum for the original 911s which now are old clunkers that can barely get out of their own way. There's a dedicated 991 forum where you might want to pose the question.

On the other hand, the aspirated and turbo factions on the 991 forum hate each other worse than sunna and shia, so the responses to your thread would likely soon turn into a prison yard fight, so you may be better off listen to the wise men here who drive 50 year old cars and can look at both 991 versions with distant detachment.

In that vein, I can offer my 2 cents: if I were to buy a 991 I'd buy the 991.2. The glowing reviews (by Pete Stout above everyone else) won me over, and if as they say the 991.2 drives much like the 992 I had the pleasure of trying a few weeks ago, it's a phenomenal car.

Welcome to Rennlist.

Go to this post:

In it, you will find a document referenced which summarizes all the changes that came in with the 991.2 in 2017.

Nobody buys a Porsche because it makes sense monetarily. Otherwise you’d get a used Toyota Camry.

Buy the one you want.

Default 991.1 or 991.2

I just traded in my 991.1 Carrera S for a 991.2 GTS. The car is amazing. It’s a whole new level of sports car in my opinion. I always thought my first one would be hard to improve upon but they did.
