Default Thoughts on this 930 for sale on cargurus?

I posted this in the 930 (911 Turbo) forum and got over 100 reads but no replies....hoping some 911 experts here might offer their insight regarding the 930. I briefly owned a 997.1 Turbo last year but am not a Porsche "expert" so am not quite sure what I am looking at here and why the price is so "cheap"? From the description I take it she is a Euro car to start with and has had some mechanical work done that was non factory but not being up on these cars I am questioning generally what we have here...Help?

I dont have much to offer specifically other than to say it is extremely difficult to get a good idea on an air cooled car without seeing it in person or having somebody do a thorough PPI on it. To many things can be hidden. If you are serious get some trained eyes on it.

It seems to be a fairly cookie cutter track car build from 10 to 15 years ago when 930s were still relevant for track use. Nothing alarming on the surface, but non stock parts are going to drive a way a lot of buyers in this market. You would want to know if it's ever been crashed, and how tired the engine is.

Being in Florida, I image AC is important to you. The compressor is missing, you should probably plan on an entire new system. A Griffiths is going to cost a few thousand dollars.

I'm a little surprised it doesn't have sport seats.

I spoke to a German Car Shoppe that did two repairs in the car in the last 12 months...they said the car was an AC car but the AC was not working and owner declined service. They did say they fixed the sunroof to make it operable (had to remove roll cage to get to sunroof and cut out headliner) and changed a valve cover gasket to stop an oil leak and replaced the spark plug wires. Dealer says the car runs out nicely and says Carfax shows no crashes....kinda hard to believe a 40 year old 911 turbo car has not been crunched even once but he says it shows clear according to Carfax. Not familiar with what the sports seats look like in '79 but I note your comment.

How does carfax report on incidents that happened before carfax existed?
Google says Carfax was founded in 1984 but I cant imagine widespread reporting started anywhere near that. I really dont know how valid a clean carfax is on a car of this vintage. They didnt even have 16 digit VINS in 1979.

I don't think Carfax works on a car that old with that format VIN. It needs to have 17 digits. So I have to wonder if the dealer is BSing you, which casts doubt on the rest of his story.

Noted...I spoke to the owner of the dealership and he stated the same that it isn't listed in Carfax but from talking with two previous owners he is not aware that it has been crunched...but I would have a thorough PPI obviously if I get serious. The dealership owner is also going to get info on what Turbo is on the car and said they have the original OEM Turbo and the original Fuchs wheels....which makes the car a bit more interesting now in my eyes. He also stated he had the entire leather interior redone last year at a cost of $4,000+...Thanx for your input.
