Safari ride height adjustment

Safari ride height adjustment
Hi I am sure this has been done to death elsewhere but I want to raise the ride height on my 81SC to accomodate off road tyres for example Yokohama Geolandar 215/75 or Cooper Discoverer 205/70 on 15 x 6.5 rims. This is for street and mild offroading. Can anyone suggest *budget friendly* alternatives for suspension setups? Thanks

That's real easy. Just do a search on lowering ride height and do just the opposite. My 87 Carrera runs 205 70 15's up front and all I did was crank the 11mm adjustment screw up until I reached rally height!
The rear might be a bit more complicated.

I am considering the same build and I am doing some research on a safari build similar to what's being done at: https://www.tuthillporsche.com/blog/...he-suspension/

Thanks - I am running with this suggestion. If I end up driving the Paris/Dakar no doubt I will go for a full safari suspension package but in the meantime this should get things started!

Following on an older thread and wonder what you ended up doing. Care to share, especially in the rear suspension department?

That's easy. Just Google or YouTube factory 84-88 Carrera and you will find how they looked at European height that most PCA members and even normal folks considered rally height.

87 Carrera at Euro or as PCA calls it Rally Height

My experience here will suggest you decide what size tires you want to run early. I ran geolanders with an overall diameter or 26.9 which required a good deal of trimming the bumper extension and lower valance on the front. No issues in the rear. The keen cars run 27" BFGs and if you look closely you will see the mods to the bodywork. Also if you are running a left side oil cooler it needs to be way up in the fender to clear.
