'86 911 in '98 widebody clothing

'86 911 in '98 widebody clothing
Saw a car today that looked just like a 1998 911 Widebody.
The dealer called me and wanted me to come in and drive it. I will take him up on the offer. I made him no promises on purchasing. I have to wonder why someone would do that to an '86 with 54,000 miles on it. Other than the obvious. . . they liked the looks of the '98.
Body looks to be in great shape. Also has big brakes on it.
Am I missing something?
Seems to me as though the value would be diminished.
