Default Heat from muffler causing paint issues

purchased this 1972 911t about a month ago and have come across an issue. After driving the car for long drives the back bumper by license plate gets very hot. After returning from my recent trip (200 miles in a day) I noticed that my paint was cracking.....

any thoughts or suggestions on how to stop the heat having such an impact on the paint? Heat shield? New muffler?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

this just came up very recently , look back a few posts , the general consensus was to get ignition timing and mixture checked. your exhaust gasses are too hot.
