I totally agree. A clean 3.2 with a well sorted 915 gearbox is awesome! No need for a heavier G50

Having owned a 996 I agree it’s undervalued and under appreciated. It also has a bit of an “old school 911” feel to it. Same with 997. However, there’s nothing like the air cooled experience. I just refreshed my memory of those cars I owned years ago with my recent purchase of the 89 Carrera. It’s truly an experience no modern Porsche can give you. Not necessarily better, just different.

This just came up on my email feed; I had to chuckle at my own posts from 2019.

Apparently, I still don’t have these ac 911s out of my system. I dipped into ac 911 ownership again (for the 4th time in the last decade) and bought an early 3.2. It has been my street driver since last April.

I was frequently fiddling with newer wc 911s to make driving experiences more like the earlier 911s (ones with VINs starting with 911xxxxx). So I said to myself, just buy a proper ac 911 and restomod if needed. From electric ps to hydraulic ps to non-ps. And loving it. So far, only changes from stock are brighter LED headlights and Wevo shift coupler. May do R134 conversion after holidays.

Only downside was having to pay up for an older car. Definitely an upgrade in my driving experience.

Quick Reply: G-series (G50) or 993 ownership
