Default Help on a price for a 1987 Cab with 91k

Hello,
I am looking for help landing on a price for a 87 Cab with 91k. It needs, Paint (currently brown/purple and the paint is cracking and chipping in some areas). Wheels need reconditioned. The current top is brown and aged a bit.

The 87 is a G50 car which usually give it a little more value, balance that vs. the cosmetic condition. A lot depends on the mechanical condition but.... if the cosmetics are any indication of the mechcanicals it sounds like a mid to upper $20's car to me.

Depending on the exact mechanical condition and cosmetic condition. I would guess 22-28k would be fair. It really depends on both. Cabs usually sell for less then coupes with 911's

If it was perfect could be like 40k

Also aged tops break. Its gonna have to be replaced sooner or later.

If you can get it cheap jump on it. If the price is market or near maker value get a pre purchase inspection. Its worth it - I made that mistake

just keep in mind repainting Porsches is VERY expensive. make sure you can live with the paint as is for a while.

Absolutley correct
I'm in nyc to have it done right can be anywhere from 8-20k

Depends on the hours involved

lets say 100- 200 hrs @125 an hour thats 10-20k right there

I own a 1988 cab with 73,000 miles that is very nice. I'd consider it a 9/10 in and out. Definitely not in need of an interior or paint. If I were selling I'd be asking mid $40s. It is definitely cheaper to buy a nice one than to make a marginal one nice

Great estimate....... it's $15,000 all day long to do it right. That does not include tear down, putting it back together and any major body repair.

Lol I only know because I'm getting it done now I'm lucky its a friend doing the work

I had alot of mechanical crap done. Then inteior then seals misc. Now body and paint. Undoing Every thing that was done on it. I did a decent amount of stuff myself.

For what i have into my car i could a bought a nice driver 993 hardtop.

But live and learn. Money on a car is always better spent upfront. Unless you get the car dirt cheap and do all the work yourself

Can't agree with you more.

And thats a.fair price.

Lets say you get another cab that needs work
figure a deal at 25k
Then 15k paint
Then 5k inteior and maybe top

Your at 40k without touching mechanicals

Head studs now yiur at 50k
g50 granny could be 7500

Now close to 60

Plus misc seals ect
top trim could be 300 each side for rubber.

Then maybe an alternator or lets say oil lines and thermostat

Tires

You could hit 75k its possible

Or a well sorted one for mid 40s

Depends if you feel like rolling the dice

I could not find (what I considered) a well sorted car in the mid 40's........ But I was stuck on wanting a G50 car. I went with a "needs love and attention" car.
I looked at a bunch of cars. Flew to see 5. I just did not want a red car........ those are available. I also did not want a car that needed a complete repaint. I did all of my
own work (except the motor work). It is really easy to get to $75K. I know I did and then some.

I'm with you on the red car thing too, your work is awesome btw, finding time to do the work also is not easy. your car came out awesome, id honestly take yours over a singer, and the best part its yours, customized to your liking, nothing beats that.

Im gonna get crap for this out i had those ugly strosek fenders i removed them, stock 993 front minus the bumper all in light fiberglass, but I'm gonna paint the entire car lamborghini orange Arancio Ishtar ppg 0057.
inside out glass out ect..

Fortunately Porsche makes a color for everyone as I love the Guards Red Cabs with tan interior and have no interest in many of the other colors. There is no right or wrong color it is a persons preference and quality of paint. i just really like most OEM colors and not so much aftermarket colors.
