Proud new 911 owner
After lurking on the forums for quite some time now, and picking up lots of good information, I'm officially the owner of a 1987 911. I had an '88 about seven years ago but sold it before I moved from California to Colorado. I've been kicking myself ever since! Now I find myself on California's Central Coast and have a ride worthy of cruising scenic highway 1.
This '87 has seen some serious neglect -- in terms of not being driven. With less than 10K on the clock it's ready for some serious road work. I had all of the fluids changed after the PPI checked out so it's ready to go. The original owner installed a set of aftermarket wheels on the car back in '87 and wrapped the original tires and fuchs up in plastic and stored them in his temperature/humidity controlled garage with the rest of his car collection. That's a whole other world from where I come from. I was lucky enough to get the fuchs back on the car and they are in amazing condition.
The only surprise was discovering that a mouse had taken up residence under the bonnet and littered it with peanut and pistachio shells and poop! The little rodent even gnawed off some of the undercoating on the fuel tank. What a sad state of affairs!
Of course the best thing about this car is the grin it puts on my face every time I get behind the wheel.
Regards,
Gary

Thanks for the welcome guys. And, Jeremy, I agree -- isn't that mileage just sickening? I know a lot of people would just hide this car away and save it, but I'm planning on enjoying it. It's on my to-do list to join the local club and sign up for an autocross. Do orange cone marks show up on guards red?

Amazing mileage!!
Thats old ferrari type of miles!!
It actually says a lot for the brand when you consider it's as rere to see an old porsche with low miles as it is to see an old Ferrari with high miles.
There Supercars are built to be driven, not just polished!!!

Hi Gary,
That is one beautiful car! What a find.
Regarding orange cone marks, one of these days I'll take out a cone and then I'll let you know
I hope that rodent left your wiring insulation alone. Porsche engineers seem to think of everything, so perhaps they made the fuel tank coating marginally more appetizing for mice. That, at least, is what I'll tell my friend whose 50's Jaguar is now in need of a new wiring harness!
Enjoy the car. We've just dug out from a blizzard, and I can't tell you how much it aches to see the outline of the 911 under its cover in the garage then see a picture like the one you posted. Oh well, 10-12 weeks and counting..............

Gary,
Gorgeous car!!! ...even if I AM biased on the color! I want to find an 87 one day, and the lines, especially with the wing, plus the black fuchs are breathtaking. Congrats!!
