Default 911 Turbo Look Cab

I recently purchased an 85 991 Turbo look cabriolet from a collector who imported the car himself when new. I understand that this body style was unusual for the convertible, and I wondered if anyone out there knows how many were produced. Thanks in advance for your consideration. Ivan

Ivan

What you have is the M491 option - the Turbo look. Check the VIN plate in the engine compartment & you should find this listed as well as the color code etc.

For a bit of info see Turbo-look.com

Congrats on the car...You'll love it.

As for total worldwide production numbers, that's a bit hard to say. We do know however is that between 1984 and 1989 Porsche Cars North America imported 290 Cabriolet M491 (Turbo Chassis) Cars. 113 of those were imported in 1985.

Thank you for your responses. It's a real pleasure to have access to such a great service. This is my second 911 Carerra. The first was an '89 Targa, and I am very impressed with both the roadholding ability of the wider tires and beefed up suspension of the TL setup, and the increased acceleration of the Euro-spec engine. The 915 transmission, however, is another story. Any way to make the 915 feel more like the G50? I've heard that shifter kits help. Thanks again
