This speaks volumes!

Apply the above along with time-tested data, both real and anecdotal from experts such as Steve W., et.al., and one may make one's own informed decision. To simply --blindly-- trust a manufacturer's recommendation in today's age of hyper litigation and CYA policy is the antithesis of informed decision making, IMO.

Not sure of what car its going into but
is use valvoline vr1 20-50 race oil or brad penn 20-50 i think it was Kendall

High zinc content don't worry its fine for cats .

20-50 is the correct weight

then buy 1 can of the porsche classic oil to decorate the garage lol

Brad-Penn is now called Penngrade 1

20-50 is the correct weight
15w-40 is OK, too.

A great thread, make sure you read thru all of it.

The 540rat blog is also quite informative. Take the rankings for what it is ... one guy's independent but consistent oil testing results and draw your own conclusions.

Hey, a question about Motul 300V 15w50: This is a product that Steve W. has recommended and I am considering it. However, it is a ester synthetic (apparently). If I wanted to change to this in a 3.2 Carrera, would there be any mixing issues between the new 300V I fill into the tank and the two or three liters of old oil (Porsche Classic 10W-60 in my case), that will remain in the oil cooler and lines (forward of the thermostat)? If they mix without issue, that is great...
