Default clutch chatter

My babies clutch 84 911 chatters JUST durring EXCELERATED dead starts. The clutch seems fine , I can start fron 0 on a uphill start in secound with no slipping from the clutch . My mechanic says new clutch ($2200) I say lets wait untill it starts to slip. Was a rubber clutch standard this year?(84)
Need advice? new clutch or no fast starts and wait for slipping

$2200 for a new clutch? I'd find a new wrench. Labor $800, Clutch kit $500 = $1300

Default CLUTCH CHATTER

I would check that the clutch cable has enough clearance at the throttle bellcrank on the side of the gearbox. When you accelerate the gearbox and engine twist, this can pull the cable and cause the car to shutter badly.I have seen it many times.Good luck,Jerry
