AC fan upgrade
has anyone ever heard of upgrading a AC fan in a 89 911?
I have rebuilt the entire AC system. Blows nice cold air, but the fan , as is, dosen't push as well as I would like it to.
Any ideas?

First, I would remove the squirrel cage blower and its housing and clean it quite thoroughly.
Then I would look at the airflow inlet path to see if it could be opened up to more flow by removing obstructions, wider ductwork, etc.
Then I would have a look at the chilled air outflow path for the same
reasons.
If you haven't replace the A/C evaporator then it's likely due for a good and thorough cleaning.
I would also be sure that the blower motor is recieving the full battery voltage when it's on the highest position. Check across the + and - side of the motor wiring itself, do not use a local/nearby ground for negative reference.
An older electric motor might have dry and/or worn shaft bearings, brush and/or commutator problems or maybe even the permanant magnet field "windings" have lost some of their magnetism, all without any indication such as blowing a fuse.
