Internet: [996 944 Boxster Cayman] is stupid water pumper quasi-Porsche!! They are so lame. My air cooled car is the pure thing. The only true raw driving experience. The annual 6 month hibernation is over. Looking to put on another 200 miles this year. I'll be sure to change the oil filter twice! Excuse me, I have a C&C to attend so I can get the best parking spot! Anyone got the Windex?

Track: [996 944 Boxster Cayman] is represented by a ratio of 5:1 vs. air cooled garage ornaments. Many are gutted scarred pitted stripped down track machines that are bare bones kidney rattling race cars. They are sometimes the fastest cars on the track. You can try to explain to them what a real Porsche, but they are busy doing laps, and would not be able to hear you anyway.

Ask the guy who is yapping about "water pumpers."
I had 996 in that list. I see tons of them at the track as well.

I believe that this was the theme driving this thread. If someone whats to have a conversation regarding what shows up at the track and laps other folks
consistently, on a budget, we need to have a spec Miata discussion. But not here and certainly not in the Air Cooled 911 area.

agreed ... and perhaps a discussion of what % of air cooled's left spend time on the track vs what% of the Bazillion Boxsters do .. probably change the discussion a bit.

all this banter because a dude posted a water-cooled P-car question in the 911 air-cooled forum, gotta love it, however it never ceases to amaze how Porsche owners, typically well read on their cars, post 996, 997 and 991 questions here. Haven't seen any 356, 930, 964, 993, front-engine or mid-engine stuff here. I'd suggest we ponder this but I'd rather we end this thread.

I think the vast majority of mistakes are by new owners who simply don't understand the lineage as well as we do.
That coupled with just not paying attention to what they are clicking i imagine.

It started out tongue in cheek as it always does, but as usual there are the those who get there nickers in a twist.
