Default 930 turbo brakes on SC

Hi Guys,

I am building a historic FIA 911 SC track car. On the homologation papers it is allowed to use 930 turbo brakes.
I got the callipers and tried to fit them but they are not a straight swap.

What is the best way to fit them? What is the original way to fit them? Do I have to change the trail arms or any other parts?

Any tips are welcome.
Thanks
Miki

I'll let the shop guys chime in , but when I installed them on my '77 track car I had to have
the rears lightly machined because of a fitment issue. I don't recall the fronts presenting any problem other than brake line routing. I used floating discs too

VCI can machine rear calipers so they fit correctly, the fronts should bolt on, you will need a 23mm M/C as well

Hi,

930 front calipers are a direct bolt-onto any strut with 3.5" bolt spacing. You will need some flavor of 930 rotor and the factory 930 bolts, spacers, wave washers and short brake lines.

For the rear, your 930 calipers must be machined & modified to install onto the 911 trailing arms. Plus, you will need rear 930 rotors, some custom spacers, factory 930 bolts & wave washers. Lastly, you will need to bend a 12" section of brake line to connect the calipers and flex lines on the trailing arms.

Don't forget a 23mm 930 MC!

Been doing these conversions since 1978.

Thanks for the help. Any other way not to modify the the callipers? How will this affect the ET? Will it fit the standard flares?

Nossir. The calipers MUST be modified to 911 trailing arms and 930 trailing arms do not fit a 911.

Standard flares are fine as are stock wheels. You may need a 3mm wheel spacer for caliper clearance, though.

Thanks Steve. How about modifying the trail arms? Is that an option or still the callipers are an easier way?
I was planning to use r17 ccw2 wheels that I got with the car front J8 and J9,5 in the back. For rain tires I am planning to use r16 Fuchs J8 and 9

What parts do I need for the front?

You can fabricate and weld the "ears" on the 911 trailing arms, however thats FAR FAR more expensive to do. Since 1978, I've done the caliper mods.

I mentioned the parts needed for the front in a previous post.

Steve did all the machining and sent all the appropriate parts including the special "elbow" needed for the clearance with 23mm Master Cylinder for my 911S conversion years ago and it has been flawless as a race car and street car since.
Save yourself the frustration and the added cost by having a consummate professional set it up for you correctly.
