Default Porsche 930 4 speed trans identification help

Gents,
I have a 4 speed trans that my dad had purchased back in about 98-99 for a mid engine project he was working on. Long story short, dad passed away a few months ago and I'm helping mom sort through and sell off things that are not needed. I need help identifying which trans it is so I can post it up for sale. the #'s I see are 930-301-301 OR, 930-301-311 OR. One guy that I talked to said the bell housing looked longer than most but didn't know exactly what it was either. According to dad it was rebuilt when he bought it. i stuck a bore scope in all the inspection holes and it looks nice and fresh, I also drained the fluid and it came out nice and clean. Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Ramon

1985 “long” bellhousing 930. The type number and serial number is on a rib on the bottom. Your tranny jack is under it. They often get scraped off.

Awesome thanks for the replies gents. Definitely looks like the numbers have been worn off over time. Thank you for the help, at least that sends me in the right direction.

Any ideas of what one of these would go for or where I should start? Are the long bell housing more common than the short ones?

Thanks again.

you may want to go to the 930 section , we run 5 spd gearboxes, Turbos run 4, you might find more info or even a buyer !!

Ha I thought I was in the right spot, I'm a bit 911 retarded. Have only had 928's.. Thank you will do. Are there any Admins in here that can help me move this thread to the 930 section?

Thanks

$3500-5000. Long is less valuable than short. And yours cannot be easily shortened.

Back in the day of this tranny a few 930 owners with plenty of bucks would swap in a RUF 5-speed tranny and sell off the factory-delivered 4-speed. (Porsche had originally elected to put 4-speeds in the 930s because they felt that with the turbo motors, the longer gears were just fine).
