Default What years were the speedsters made

I am interested to know what the years the speedsters were made. I am not interested in the 356, although they are amazing. I thought they were only made in 87 and 94? But thought I would ask the board.
Thanks.

Per Bruce Anderson's "Porsche 911 Handbook"

1989 - "The 911 Speedster was added to the model line as a new open-top version of the 911. Porsche built 2,104 Speedsters - 165 non Turbo look and the rest Turbo look."

1993 - "Also in 1993, the 911 Carrera 2 Speedster was added to the model line-up as an additional open-top model in the spring of 1993 as a 1994 model." "This Speedster was a normal body instead of the Turbo-look body style of the 1989 Speedster." "Built only as a 1997 model year car over the 1993 and 1994 calendar years, 930 of the 1994 Speedsters were built and 409 of them were exported to the United States."

Hope this helps!

Interesting that BA said 2104 were built. The SCCA said none ever existed in the US and they won't allow us or other targa's to convert to a 'speedster configuration'

In addition BA also states on page 29 of his handbook that 800 of the 1989 speedsters were imported to the US. He goes on to state "The Speedster had the same VIN number range as the 911 Cabriolet, but it did have a different type number as follows

Type: 911 730
R.o.W.: Left-hand drive
Type: 911 731
R.o.W.: Right-hand drive
Type: 911 740
United States"

PCA Club Racing allows Speedster configuration as this ex-targa demonstrates:

As for Speedsters in North America, I've seen too many for them not to have been available. Heck, there's one in our region!
