Ask for Juan. Tell him you have "aftermarket" Bilsteins that need to be revalved. They do not revalve their OE shocks.
I use Glenn Yee in San Dimas. He's a Bilstein factory certified guy who cut his teeth working for the Aase brothers in IMSA racing in the 80s. Same guy who blueprints the oil pumps Ollies sells. Great resource who is lesser known outside of racing circles.

hello, I too have an 84 911 carrera coupe and have been considering a strut brace. Have you done so and if so noticed any pros or cons?

There is a story somewhere on the web where a guy is building a 911 and he measured the additional support a front strut brace add and conclusion was that it’s not adding any real benefit.
In the US you are extremely eager to find expensive solutions to non existing problems.
The strut brace add a nice place to dry shop towels, that’s all.

Yep, that was me. The only benefit I could measure is when the brace included a diagonal element going down to the the intersection of the shelf and strut tower.

I'll repeat my testing again when my car is driveable again but I would spend money on something else first

Strut braces offer more value on front engines cars with coilovers in my opinion.

No advantages I can see to a strut brace...... I have one only because it was gifted to me and it looks really cool.

Let's see... did Porsche ever put a strut brace on the 911?

Which cars, and for what usage?

I am thinking NO for any that were mass produced........ I have zero idea regarding any that were race prepared.

Yes, 911 RSRs had a strut brace from tower to tower, but on welded brackets. And then later they developed an x-brace that triangulated from the towers to the front of the car.

See some photos in this thread: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...rut-brace.html

Bingo! So the factory thought they were not needed on street cars - at the time and using methods available to them then (note they used wool tufts and watchers on freeway overpasses to study aerodynamics back in the day too).

I have also never seen a test that was done properly on the internet.

OTOH, I would go with Chuck's thoughts Elephant Racing - and use his modular diagonal brace.

FWIW, I have a tie bar type on my car, but it was cheap and I got in the last century...
