Default Not sure why I have this wire running to the dist.

Replaced a seal in the dist. on my 2.7 mfi engine and I noticed a rather precarious wire running to the side of the dist. I wanted to secure it, as it looks rather fragile. The wire has a rather stiff coating that is broken, not surprising after 40 years, but the wire itself is intact. Here is a pic. of the problem area:

Get yourself some black heat shrink tubing and bridge the entire wire. Buy the smallest size you can fit over the end. ....or just run some electrical tape over it.

That's what my plan before I posted and if no one else had a better solution.
I wish I knew what the mystery wire is?

It looks to be a ground that was picked up at the distributor housing. Not on my 75. If you need to know you could trace it.
