ALL 2.7's use the 30mm shaft so there may be an issue that is preventing the unit from being installed.
Since the distributor fitment is pretty tight, you may have a burr, excess oil deposits, or a slightly-too-fat O-ring that is causing the difficulties.
if my engine had a serial number it would make it a lot easier.
i bought the car in the carribean where spare parts are rare so they decided to put a toyota distrubotr in it, it never ran well and at the end ran out of spark.
i just remeasured and in fact the current toyota dist. which is a fit has a shaft width of approx 26-27mm instead of the 30mm mentioned for a 2.7, so it also doesn't fit with a little bit of grease...
the toyota is also a lot shorther then the new jfud6
now based on the fact of my shaft beeing 26/27mm can you please tell me wich model may fit my engine or maybe even know what engine i actually have ?
thank you very much for you help, pics below, toyota on the left...
Post a picture of your type and serial number from the other side of the alternator/fan stand. Your engine almost looks aluminum, which would not be original to a 75.
Just because it started life as a 2.2 case doesn't mean it isn't now a 2.7. For example, maybe the original engine in your car failed. They needed a new case, and found a 2.2 for cheap. They machine it for the larger 2.7 spigots and built a 2.7l engine around it. No doubt it's why some dumbarse scraped off the numbers. That's the best case explanation.
Worst case is it's just a 2.2 they threw in. But again was it a T? Or was it something more? Only way to find out at this point is to tear it down and find out. I just bought a 75 targa with a 2.2e engine in it. The engine is worth close to what I paid for the car.
it seems the 2.7 is also way longer, too long i think !
should i just fix the toyota distributor ?
i can put an IGNITOR in and it already fits, does it work the same as the bosch, because the toyota rotor looks very low tech compared to the original bosch rotor....
thanks to all you guys for your help so far, you have been very helpful !
